What does EV (expected value) mean for Pokémon packs?

EV is the average value per pack if you opened the same product many times: the sum of each card's chance multiplied by its price. For Scarlet & Violet, the hits alone average $2.20 per pack. For 151, the hits alone average $7.93 per pack. Because a few chase cards hold most of the value, the median pack is worth far less than the average. Try the simulator.
