Q&A

Are sports card breaks worth it?

Updated October 23, 2026 · By the PullMeter team

A break sells spots (usually teams) in a live box opening. To judge one, estimate the expected value of your spot: the chance of each relevant hit for your team, multiplied by its sold-comp value, then compare it with the spot price. Most spots receive mostly base cards, and the breaker's margin is built into the price, so treat breaks as entertainment. We don't publish sports EV numbers until we have a verified sold-price and odds source. See EV math.
